Moving a truck in North America from one location to another across the United States is what you might call an oversized job. There’s not only the challenge to find a vehicle shipping company that’s reliable, you need a truck shipping rate that’s budget-friendly. Buying a new truck online? Got a construction contract and you need to get one or more heavy-duty trucks to the new job site? Or sending your F-150 across the country as part of a family move? Whatever size it is, your truck transport has to be done right, so you want to be sure the truck transporters you choose have both the equipment and know-how to complete the job in a safe and timely manner.
How much does it cost to ship a truck?
Transporting a truck costs ~$1.40 per mile for 1-500 miles. So, a 350 mile trip would cost $490. The longer the distance, the lower the price: to ship a truck ~1000 miles drops it to $1 a mile, or $1000. Truck transport across the United States, from coast to coast, can be as little as $.60 cents per mile. Truck shipping quotes vary based on your vehicle size, type of truck, height, weight, modifications, as well as seasonal demand and how fast it needs to get there. When you’re getting a truck transport quote, you want to be sure it’s all-inclusive – which is exactly what you get from our real-time, mobile-friendly Quick Quote system. 100% insurance is included, with zero deductible. There are no taxes or surcharges for your truck shipping service.
At Easy Car Shipping, we’re able to accommodate your truck, no matter how large, and even if it doesn’t run - from a dump truck to a heavy-duty truck to a pickup truck. Be sure to let your Coordinator know the type of truck you're shipping and if it has a lift kit or oversized tires, as these larger vehicles may require a different carrier than the one we’d send for a factory-standard pickup. And a large roof rack or ladder rack may mean a larger carrier truck is necessary.
While 95% of truck shipping happens on an open carrier, if your truck’s brand new or you’ve got a “Cowboy Cadillac”, a luxury or a classic truck that’s worth >$70,000, then an enclosed carrier might be something to consider for your truck shipping service. Regardless of which option you choose, your quote is good for a full 14 days – twice as long as the industry norm when you move a truck.
How long does it take to ship a truck?
Truck delivery takes between 1-6 calendar days from the date your car is picked up to when it’s dropped off. A driver usually covers about 500 miles per day. The first available pickup date is for truck transport is typically 2-7 business days after an order is placed, and express truck transport is usually available within 24-72 hours.
With 7-10 vehicles on a trailer at any time, being dropped off across multiple states with customers whose needs may change at the last minute, the standard truck transport services can vary a bit. Some of the circumstances affecting the length of time include weather delays, especially in winter or hurricane season -- but in most cases you can count on getting it on the date you want it, +/- 1 or days if you’re flexible, or with a guaranteed date if you opt for the express service at a 30% premium.
“We got a call from a buyer in North Carolina who wanted a specific truck with specific needs. It was an end of the year model and he was unable to find it anywhere else at a dealership. He was willing to buy the vehicle from us but didn’t want the hassle of having to arrange for the delivery. To top it all off, the buyer needed it there ‘yesterday’ because he was going to be using it for a camping trip. We called Easy Car Shipping, our favorite, and they were able to get it there in the timeline the buyer required. We count on them to satisfy even our most finicky customers. And while occasional issues crop up related to weather or uncontrollable events, they are by far the best company we have on our roster.” Darrel McAlvy, 2015 Toyota Tacoma, San Jose, CA to Customer in Charlotte NC
Can I pack items in my truck during when shipping my truck?

While it would be great if you could, the government agencies allow you to ship only items that actually relate to the truck itself. So if it’s clearly a plumber’s commercial truck, then related equipment would be permitted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration but otherwise they inspect trucks and drivers can be fined.
There are some other advantages to cleaning it out, of course. You’d hate to lose personal items in transit. Plus, every driver fills out a Bill of Lading, which is an inspection report, and it’s easier to get a clear description of the condition of your truck if it’s clean on the outside. If you’re a buyer or seller, you want to maintain the truck’s value, of course, so this is an important step in the process. We do everything we can to make things convenient for you, with little effort on your part. We assign a dedicated Coordinator to each order, and you’ll have the name and cell phone of the driver while it’s in transit.
“My husband got a new job with Target and he was moving out there a couple of weeks before the rest of the family. The transport company was able to pick up his truck on short notice and they worked with us to deliver it, even though we did not have an exact address yet where the vehicle would be dropped off when we booked the order. They accommodated my husband’s schedule for drop off after work, and delivered the truck to the hotel he was staying at. Easy, I’ll use them for transporting our minivan as well.” Tina Wellner, 2009 Ford Ranger, San Antonio to Minneapolis

“Our company was awarded a large project in New Orleans and we needed to send multiple trucks for our employees. This was going to be the first truck for the project supervisor. I had no idea where to even start, so my boss said, ‘Google it.’ I had specific dates that the truck needed to arrive and they were able to accommodate me and make me feel comfortable that my boss would be happy. It was a large truck with equipment in it, so it needed special care and handling. The manager (at Easy Car Shipping) kept me in the loop the entire time. My boss was so pleased we shipped another 8 vehicles over the next 3 months for this project. We continue to use them ever since.” Jessica Alvarez, 2013 RAM 5500 Stakebed Truck, Nashville to New Orleans
